Initial Visit
Together, we will look at and discuss design styles and the feel of the garden as well as the proposed budget. I will then write to you with a breakdown of the brief as well as a staged fee proposal for the design work
Site survey
Before any drawing can begin I will need an accurate survey of the site. The design process begins with an analysis of the site using the accurate measurements of the survey as a basis for future drawings
Outline Design
This shows the proposed design layout, the essence of the idea and the proposed materials. I will meet you to present this drawing, discuss the design and any alterations you may wish to make
Detailed Design
I will then produce a detailed plan, showing any necessary construction details of specific features such as ponds, pergolas, steps etc. along with a materials specification. This provides the contractor with enough information to give an accurate price for building the project
Monitoring the build
If required, I will visit the work in progress, inspect the workmanship, field any questions and propose changes if they are needed during the build
Planting plans
These show the location, variety, size and quantity of planting required
Sourcing and setting out plants
If required, I will source plants in good condition at competitive prices. The setting out and positioning of the plants is the final creative element of designing the garden
Maintenance
If required, I can provide maintenance schedules and advice on how to keep the garden flourishing as it matures so it continues to give you pleasure
